One of the glorious things about living near family is being able to celebrate holidays. Sometimes it can be tricky figuring out schedules, but this year, we made Christmas celebrations happen the weekend before Christmas with our families. On Saturday, we did a full day with my family. Our day consisted of cookie decorating, cooking, opening presents, watching the dogs play, eating, and enjoying each other's company after skipping out on things last year. It was an amazing day!
A little bit of sass when I requested a picture before opening gifts.
Sunday was another busy day. We began the day with brunch at Exile Brewing. The restaurant is fully decked out for the season, as well as a special brunch menu for Snowglobe Des Moines. Sunday afternoon we wrapped our gifts, started our soup, and in the evening, we went to my in-law's house for a soup supper and white elephant gift exchange. We had the best time and laughed hard when Hubs wound up with a pink mug that says 'hot stuff,' which was the gift the middle mini chose to bring for the gift exchange.
I didn't have a single complaint about our busy weekend, considering we missed it all last year. We were thrilled to have a much more normal celebration with family.
