Birthday Sixteen

Birthdays as a sixteen year old sure look different. His focus was spending time with friend, both during the day while I worked and then in the evening after dinner. He didn't want to do anything special (with his mom and dad, at least!), but we did finally hit up Waterfront for seafood. Eating seafood is a fairly new thing for us, since Max only recently got an all clear on his shellfish allergy, so we went all out and tried numerous dishes. We ended the night with root beer floats before we were once again left while he hung out with friends. That sums up life with a sixteen year old: feed them, they come home to sleep, and then they're off again.

Birthday Fourteen

The kid obsessed with cookies got a whole box full from Cookies and Dreams, as well as visits from grandparents, a swim in the lake, more cookies, silk pajamas, ramen for dinner, and a movie to round out his perfect day of turning fourteen.

Birthday Twelve

For the first time in twelve years, I wasn't there the moment Elizabeth woke up on her birthday. I made it a little extra with balloons taped to her door, but Hubs didn't realize he was supposed to take a wake-up picture, so also for the first time in twelve years, I don't have her first picture as a twelve year old. I did make up for it with an afternoon adventure to pet alpacas, write our names on the covered bridges, "the best Italian food" at Olive Garden (I'm rolling my eyes at this one, but it's her birthday, so we don't argue), and a night at Mainframe Studios for First Fridays.
