Today's Word of the Day: Balance

Balance (noun)a condition in which different elements are equal or in the correct proportions.

I could have stayed in bed all day. I really wanted to. My kids got themselves breakfast and made us all lunch, so it would have been easy to do. Of course, there were things that needed done. I spent two days doing the things I wanted to do, so today was the day to do the needed things. They still didn't all get done.

So, I glanced at my calendar. It's borderline ridiculous that I have to look at my calendar to see when we can fit in yard work in the next week. Too many things to do and too little time. We'll be caught trying to balance daily life, obligations, and the things that need done. 2020 was magnificent because I didn't have to worry about balancing life. There was nothing to balance because there was very little to do.

As I sit at 5:00 p.m. sipping a coffee to make it through the remaining hours of the weekend, I struggle to find that balance. The balance between rest and moving, being and doing, saying yes and saying no. I need to find the balance of being the right amount of busy. Not so busy that we have to schedule yard work into our calendar, but busy enough that it keeps us happy doing things we love (and have missed the last year). Balance and time work together, against us, and for us. I wish I had more time, so I could balance all the things that make me happy and fit them all into my life.

I feel incredibly lucky that we have so much to balance because our life is so full of happiness and love. So much that adds quality to our lives and make it better. I can never complain about that.....but the more time would come in handy.
