We're Leaving On An Epic Road Trip

The first adventure happened before the trip even began: trying to fit all of our camping gear, boogie boards, river tubes, life jackets, etc. in the car topper. It took a lot of rearranging to make it all fit and now I have a fear of this thing, with all of our stuff in it, flying off our car as we drive. Eeekkk!

We're leaving on our first ever Epic Pandemic Style Road Trip and we don't know when we'll be back again. No really, we don't know what date or time we'll be back. Just before the start of work on Monday May 17th. That's 11 whole days to get lost in the Lone Star State. There's many firsts with this trip: the dog's first epic road trip, our first time in Texas, the first time we've ever extensively traveled in May, our first time primitive camping, our first time camping on a beach next to the ocean.

For the first time ever, we're driving through the night to get to our destination. We haven't traveled at night in a while. When the minis were bitty and we began our road trips, we often made sure our driving time coincided with naps or bedtime. It made for an extremely easy drive. Then the minis grew, became expert road trippers, and we traveled whenever, wherever we could. Last summer we welcomed our black lab into the mix and quickly discovered he has car anxiety. So, we're back to night traveling, when we know the dog will be sleeping.

It should be all kinds of interesting, as most of our epic road trips are. The added layer of going in a pandemic is providing a layer of epicness we haven't yet encountered. So, wish us luck! We're off and looking forward to the memories, no matter what they are.
