I closed daycare down, flew through chores, maybe chewed dinner (or maybe swallowed it as fast as I could), so we could make it out the door for a family swim night at Valley View Aquatic Center. An evening swim time is perfect for those who want to stay away from crowds (there were very few people here) and still enjoy swimming. It was a bit chilly, but the kids didn't seem to mind. We spent time in the lazy river, watching the kids run around in the kiddie pool, and, of course, water slides.
I could say my night ended there, but it didn't. While the minis went home for showers and bed, I met a friend in town from California. We shared a bottle of wine in the front yard of her Airbnb, talking about life, how the pandemic has changed our lives, and about life in our very different states. I was dead tired Friday morning, I had a headache all day from the wine, but it was just the kind of night that left my soul replenished. It was perfect.
