I'm Sick For The First Time Since The Pandemic Began

I'm sick for the first time in 18 months. I'm not handling it well. I forgot what a simple cold feels like. Between masks, social distancing, and extra vitamin intake, I've been healthy. No coughs, fevers, rashes, tummy bugs, or random childhood illnesses that the kids so kindly pass on to me.

I could keep this part of the pandemic, this never getting sick thing. It's been pretty nice despite the near constant worry that every sneeze or cough could be the dreaded Covid. Although, not being exposed to germs has clearly made my immune system take a hit because this cold has kept me in bed all damn day. I decided ice cream for dinner was the only way to go, even though ice cream just makes me cough more. Since I haven't been sick, I haven't had a drop of cold medicine since the pandemic began. I gagged when I took NyQuil last night. Then it didn't even help me sleep. I'm tired, but I can't sleep.

I seriously forgot what it's like to be sick. I don't even want to think about the first time the stomach flu hits our house!
