Easter Sunday

We had another laid back Easter. The annual egg hunt was trickier this year because we were worried the dog would get the eggs, but hiding them toward the back of the backyard did the trick and everyone got PLENTY of eggs filled with sweets. The day provided the usual things: baskets, brunch, Legos, playing. My parents stopped by mid-day to drop off goodies for the minis. The dog was walked numerous times. Overall, it was a wonderful Easter Sunday Funday.

The Easter Bunny brought lots of goodies: Legos, a Harry Potter water bottle, new shoes, spring and summer clothes, books, Pokemon cards, and candy. So. Much. Candy. The basement homeschool room provides the perfect place for Lego building: away from a dog who might eat pieces and gives Mom a quiet main floor for a bit!

Easter brunch: eggs, turkey bacon, fruit salad, blueberry muffins, mimosas (or just orange juice for the minis) and Starbucks. Since Hubs had to go on a grocery pick up Sunday morning, he surprised me with coffees when he came home. In addition to this, we were supposed to have biscuits and sausage gravy. However, when I went to get the packet of gravy mix out of the cupboard, I couldn't find it. I told the minis it must have gotten misplaced in our last grocery pick up and I didn't feel like making gravy from scratch. So no biscuits and gravy. It wasn't until we were done eating that I noticed the packet of gravy mix sitting on the counter next to an unused measuring cup....I completely forgot I had set everything out the night before and it was staring me in the face all morning!

Perks to having older kids who still want to do all of the holiday things: they totally understand and okay with mom eating breakfast and drinking her coffee BEFORE hiding the eggs!

Mom even got to drink a mimosa during the egg hunt!

Someone was all worn out from an active morning (or it could have been the hiking from the day before. Read about that here).

Opening baskets from grandma and grandpa. Even Zeus had one to open!

The much requested dinner and dessert: pork chops, grilled asparagus, peas, and long grain and wild rice. Since we clearly didn't have enough sugar earlier in the day, we topped the day off with slow cooker lava cake.
