We had a great and busy week at daycare! We got to spend A LOT of time outside, which seemed to help all of our moods! We did a few of our St. Patrick's Day crafts and activities and at the end of the week we welcomed back a few older kids for Spring Break.
Take a brief look at our week:
Started our week with the kitchen taken over by Kool Aid colored rice for our sensory table.
Green applesauce. The kids came to the conclusion that a leprechaun did it.
Shamrock chalk drawings
We got out and took a walk around the neighborhood.
Shamrocks colored with Do A Dot markers
Shaving cream dyed green with food coloring (coins and shamrocks in the shaving cream were found at Michael's for $1-$2.99).
Max broke open his geodes (like these). He is so excited to take them back to school after spring break because they're starting their rocks until in science class.
The kids colored their spring birds (wooden shapes found at Michael's for .34 a piece).
Painted shamrock salt dough shapes.
I really wanted to do some type of rainbow craft with the kids, but couldn't figure one out that would be simple enough for all of the kids to understand. So I came up with this one. I drew the pot and colored it black, the kids used a yellow Do A Dot marker to put the gold on the pot, their finger tips for the colors of the rainbow, and a Leprechaun sticker. Once the paint dried, I wrote (or those that were able wrote their own) message and signed their name. These turned out adorable!
Our Kool Aid colored rice was put into the sensory table. This week it was a St. Patrick's Day themed sensory table. After the 17th, it will become a spring theme.
The ball pit is up, running, and super muddy (along with the rest of our yard)!
How can you tell we've been spending a lot of time outside? Because our Think About It chair is in position and well used!
We put a slime table in the kitchen (thanks to all of the leftover slime from the book party. Read more on thathere). The kids made a slime cake.
The kids spent the first day of spring break making mud pies. We did something similar last spring. Read more about last spring's mud pie day here).
