April must be the month for birthday's because we have numerous birthday parties to attend the next few weekends. We were disappointed that it wound up being a rainy weekend because the kids had hoped for another weekend of hiking. Instead we ate donuts at the Capes Kafe, saw Sid the Science Kid at the Science Center of Iowa, a walk downtown "to see the SUPER tall buildings," lunch at Malo, and a quick stroll through the Sculpture Park in the drizzling rain. Then it was birthday party times....and grocery shopping too of course!
We stopped in at Capes Kafe for some awesome donuts and lattes. Then we walked to the Science Center of Iowa to see Sid The Science Kid. When we arrived there was a show going on about reptiles and amphibians. We of course stopped to listen and pet the snack and turtle.
Lunch at Malo. I didn't realize Max had taken his shoes off until he got up and walked around the table without his shoes on!
"When my food be here?" said Elizabeth, before we even ordered.
The biggest burrito I've ever seen and the best chicken tortilla soup I've ever tasted. If you have yet to try out Malo in the Des Moines Social Club, it's highly recommended.
The minis still had energy to get out so we took a walk around the Sculpture Park on our way out of downtown Des Moines.
It pretty much rained the entire weekend, but that didn't stop these two (and me) from taking a break birthday partying and taking a walk in the rain Saturday evening.
Max being a conductor at cousin Bode's birthday Thomas birthday party.
We got stuck in a down pour running errands Sunday afternoon. We were still laughing though (okay, so not so much Hubs but the rest of us).
Best part of all the birthday parties: CAKE! Lots and lots of cake!
The kids are thrilled to be birthday partying it up again next weekend!
