Rainy Day Crafts

We had a very wet week and spent most of our week indoors. We spent a day doing crafts centered around rain and talking about the weather:

 Rain Clouds
What You'll Need:
  • Cloud cut outs (I drew and cut these out from poster board)
  • Cotton balls
  •  Glue stick
  •  Yarn
  • White Paper (for drawing rain drops on)
  • Blue crayon (for coloring rain drops)
  • Scissors (for cutting out rain drops)
Glue yarn to the back of the cloud cut out. Glue cotton balls to the front of the cut out. Have kids color and cut out the rain drop shapes while the clouds dry. Once rain drops are cut out, have the kids glue them (with the glue stick) onto the yarn.

 Paper Plate Umbrellas
What You'll Need:
  • Paper plates
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Do A Dot markers
  • Tape (to tape on pipe cleaner)
Cut a white paper plate in half and tape a pipe cleaner to the back. Decorate with Do A Dot markers.

Rain Boots
What You'll Need:
  • Boot cut outs (I drew them and had the kids cut them out. You can also find clip art boots)
  • Crayons
Have the kids cut out the rain boots and color them.
The kids loved making their rain clouds the most, but the real thrill of the week came later in the week when the kids were treated to "a real live thunderstorm!" They had "to see it out the window." Love little minds!
