Today is June 30th. The last day of June. It's also the first day in all of June that I have not had something going on. In the past 30 days I have missed my friends having babies (unless they wanted a visit at midnight, which was done), missed my friends pretty much all together, have had to skip out on play dates and weekend activities because of birthday's, parties, pre-scheduled activities and events, work, growing my business, doing laundry (yes I've totally had to miss out on more than one thing this month because of our piled up laundry), and more.
I swear this is not a "woe is me" post, just a "this has been a beyond ridiculously busy month and such is life but I'm simply exhausted." Don't get me wrong, we have had fun this June. Fishing, swimming, farmer's markets, parties, tons of theme days for daycare, ice cream dates, family in town, friends in town, hiking, family functions, zoo visits, road trips, dinners out, a new swing set, Adventureland, and more. But at the end of the month, I've got fun coming out my ass. I need a day of rest. A day to catch up on life. I've had a constant pile of laundry sitting on my basement since Memorial Day, always dirty dishes in the sink, and a house in desperate need of a good scrubbing.
June has always been busy just due to the fact that all 3 mini's birthday are in June (June 7, 21, and 28--youngest to oldest), but the older the kids get the busier the month gets. This year, each boy insisted on inviting their classmates to their Birthday Bash. They loved seeing them and it was great to talk to the parents (as well as all of our family and friends who attended), but somehow that made June that much busier. Emails, phone calls, play dates being set up.....good lord. We have been constantly going since Memorial Day weekend.
Today, June 30th, was my first day with "nothing" to do since Memorial Day weekend. I'm not at all ashamed to say that I laid on the couch and watched the weather coverage during naps, sipped a Diet Coke, did a little bit of prepping for daycare activities, had not one thing planned for the kids. They nearly beat each other and I nearly beat them, but I'm willing to overlook that just for the mere fact that it is 7:40 p.m. and I have yet to get out of pajamas for the day. I have not had to make one meal that meets food guidelines (yes, my kid's meals did include fruits and veggies for those wondering). I have not had to get the crayons out a million times or make a homemade play dough recipe. Instead I played Hungry Hungry Hippo's, ticked off a door to door salesman when he asked if I had time while my children stood screaming (what do you think that answer was??), talked to my friends and family on the phone, baked cookies, and caught up on laundry.
As much fun as we had living life to the fullest the past 30+ days, it was a bit too full. I'm anxiously waiting for these three weekdays to fly by and get to my 10 day vacation. Granted, this upcoming week long vacation that I take every summer is a catch up on life week filled with doctor's appointments, swimming lessons, and a few extra projects. I plan on scheduling lots of down time for those 10 days so the kids and I can recharge for more summer fun.....just not quite as much fun as June because I'm exhausted (have I said that enough??).
Care to see what we've been up to this June 2014? Check out my blogs from this month. I like to think I do a fairly decent job of keeping it up to date.
