Welcome to our weekly Thursday morning post about what's going on in the Des Moines, Iowa area. We'll share what we'll be doing, great finds, restaurants to eat at, shops to drop some cash at, and just all the great things Des Moines has to offer families.
What We're Doing:
- Cookie decorating. Round 2 for us.
- 2 family Christmases
- Errand running for our daycare Christmas party next week
- Winter Market in downtown Des Moines
- Breakfast with Santa at the Science Center
- Nadas Silent Night at Wooly's (Friday night). This would be a fun date night or night out with friends.
- World Food Prize Hall of Laureates Open House (Saturday 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.). We went last weekend (read about our experience here) and it was amazing! High recommended.
- Pony Express To Santa (Jester Park Equestrian Center). The kids LOVED this!
- Last minute Christmas shopping and/or gift wrapping. I have yet to wrap any gifts, but I fully plan on recruited the kids to help with the wrapping.
- Go see Santa (if you haven't already).
- Winter time hike/walk. Kids this time of year have TONS of extra energy from all of the Santa excitement. Bundle up and head on a hike or long walk to help with your sanity.
- Make your own Christmas cards and deliver them. I have my kids make cards for their friends and our neighbors and write (at least) one reason why they're important to them/us.
- Sing Christmas carols and/or have a dance party. This has been a daily occurrence for us this week (you're all lucky I didn't post a video of my "Run Run Rudolph" dance that had the kids in stitches).
