During our Polar Express Day at daycare, I created a Hot Chocolate Bar that met the kids approval AND got a thumbs up from adults too (because adults like hot chocolate too)! First I made a Mexican hot chocolate in the crock pot. The recipe can be found here, but of course I put my own twist on it by adding in a Hershey bar for extra chocolate because you can never have too much chocolate. I love the flavor of this hot chocolate and the extra thickness the Hershey bar added to it.
Our toppings included chocolate chips (just in case it wasn't chocolatey enough), Snowman Peeps, sprinkles, marshmallows, cinnamon sticks, caramels, and whipped cream.
We had styrofoam cups and little tea cups to sip hot chocolate from. Most of the kids chose the tea cups to sip out of.
The kids LOVED putting their own toppings on.
The kids got creative while making their hot chocolate.
Once everyone had their hot chocolate we started watching the Polar Express.
Only one spill! I was happy it happened in the kitchen and not on our carpet!
Once it was realized that there were leftovers, I had two helpers who were more than willing to clean up (aka eat) the goodies left on the table.
This was a perfect Bar for kids and adults alike, but thinking ahead, I'm fairly certain that my next Bar will be an adults only type: a Mimosa Bar!
