I got a night out! I got a night out! Without the kids, without the Hubs, and without any stress. My sister and I checked out Mixology Night at the Science Center of Iowa. I have been wanting to attend a Mixology Night for over a year, but never made the time to go. It was so much fun to walk around the Science Center and actually do the activities myself, all with a drink in my hand and a Bob Marley cover band playing in the background. So much fun!
Mixology's theme was Christmas in July. My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed their drink Christmas Cheer.
After the Science Center, we checked out the newly opened Cowles Commons and ended the night at Fong's (crab rangoon pizza is always recommended).
Playing the piano. We refrained from playing in the fountains.
Waiting at Fong's.
Most parents with kids spend their 4th of July morning at parades. Not us. The minis don't particularly enjoy parades so we skipped the headache and went berry picking at Berry Patch Farm in Nevada, Iowa. We got nearly $30 of cherries, blueberries, and black raspberries. The kids lost interest as soon as they got scratched by the raspberry bush, but we still managed to rally them to keep going.
After naps we headed down to Cumming, Iowa and enjoyed a cook out, slip n' slide, squirt gun fights, and neighborhood fireworks. We had a wonderful time and didn't have to fight the crowds of people at the city fireworks.
Hubs made a potato gun. It didn't have quite the oomph he was hoping for. Back to the drawing board with this idea!
The Triple Racer Slip and Slide was so much fun!
Elizabeth started the night scared of fireworks and spent time wrapped in her blanket on people's laps. By the end of the night, she was in love with the fireworks and told me they were "so pretty colors!"
Sunday we took the kids to Spaghetti Works to eat and then went around to downtown businesses to promote The Kidsperts. The kids actually did a really great job and helped out. Plus we got to go to some fun local shops.
Being silly and wearing his sister's purse because she refused to carry it...even though she insisted on bringing it.
I loved Cowles Commons so much on Friday night that we took a break from promoting and let the kids check it out. We were pretty disappointed that the fountains weren't on Sunday.
The minis favorite place in Java Joe's: the hidden play area.
Lots of promoting done at the downtown businesses! It was such a great weekend! Once again I feel like the weekdays are relaxing compared to our weekends.
