How do we beat the one hundred degree heat??? With a Dino Day of course! Max (my oldest) has been obsessed with dinosaurs since the release of Jurassic World. At his request we had an entire day devoted to the dinos, all indoors of course.
The kids colored dinosaur pictures. The big kids even named the dinosaurs they colored.
The kids used dinosaur figurines and clay to make dinosaur prints. The clay dried in 24 hours and the kids loved feeling the dino prints.
The kid's favorite part of the day: Dino Hunt! Max and Harrison used their dinosaur claws and t-rex puppet to chase the kids, pretending to hunt them like dinosaurs. I ok'd chasing in the living room "just this once." Thankfully there was no pushing or shoving (no injuries!) making the running in the house totally worth it! I even got in on the action when I took over the "hunting" duties of the t-rex.
I had hoped to do the Dino-land sandbox again, but that was a no-go thanks to the hot day. Instead we broke out the Play Doh with the dinos. I had hoped to do a couple of dinosaur themed games, but the kids spent the morning playing Dino Hunt and the rest of the day with the dino dough (Play Doh).
We also watched The Land Before Time before lunch and the big kids got to watch Jurassic Park during nap time. Overall it was a great day and a great way to keep the kids occupied while it was too hot to run around outside!
