We finally did our first Field Day for the summer. Last summer we ended our Field Day with the slip and slide, this year we ended with a kiddie pool obstacle course! The kids had nearly three hours of nonstop fun and exercise.
We started in the front yard holding races. The kids ran, hopped, skipped, and galloped their way to the finish line (and then back) over and over again.
Since we only have four racing sacks, the kids took turn racing...or rather hopping.
The popular mower and Cozy Coupe races were asked for by all of the kids who remembered from last summer.
After the races, the kids changed into their swimming gear and did the kiddie pool obstacle course. They began at the climber slide and landed in the shaving cream, then jumped into the glitter pool, then they had to lay down in the water bead pool, and they ended at the bubble pool to get cleaned off.
After every child had a turn with the obstacle course, we let the kids play however they wanted with the pools for the next hour and a half. Most of the kids continued to do the obstacle course over and over again. The favorite pool of all was the shaving cream pool. Even after it got so slippery the kids couldn't stand up without falling down.
The shaving cream pool.
The glitter pool had 5 colors of glitter in it. I'm fairly certain we'll have a glittery backyard for the remainder of the summer.
I used only clear water beads for the water bead pool. The colored water beads can stain the skin a bit. I figured the kids were getting messy enough with the shaving cream and glitter that we didn't need to add stained skin to the mix!
The shaving cream pool and slide got so slippery that the kids started to slide right out of the pool!
