Weekend Planner

Welcome to our weekly Thursday morning post about what's going on in the Des Moines, Iowa area. We'll share what we'll be doing, great finds, restaurants to eat at, shops to drop some cash at, and just all the great things Des Moines has to offer families.

What We're Doing:
  • Wisconsin Dells baby! We've been waiting to have the time to take this trip. I finally decided if we waited until we had time we'd never make it! Ideally we would have loved to spend a longer time in the Dells, but we'll take what we can get (which in this case is a weekend trip).
Things That Are Going on Around the Metro:
  • Kenny Chesney at Wells Fargo Arena: tonight!
  •  The Lion King at the Civic Center
  • Pella Tulip Time 2015
  • The first Valley Junction Farmer's Market of 2015 happens Thursday evening. This is our favorite farmer's market to attend. While it doesn't have all of the vendors that the Downtown Farmer's Market has, it has a lot of good ones AND there's less of a crowd. With three kids in tow, that's the biggest benefit of all.
  • Family Night at the Science Center of Iowa
  •  Sesame Street Live at Wells Fargo Arena
  •  Charlotte's Web at the Des Moines Community Playhouse
  •  The Dinner Detective: Interactive Murder Mystery Dinner Show at Embassy Suites Downtown, Sunday evening.
  • Check out restaurants for Mother's Day brunches. My top picks for brunch are Django, Malo, and Christopher's.
