Weekend Planner

Welcome to our weekly Thursday morning post about what's going on in the Des Moines, Iowa area. We'll share what we'll be doing, great finds, restaurants to eat at, shops to drop some cash at, and just all the great things Des Moines has to offer families.
What We're Doing:
  • Beaverdale Holiday Boutique. The Kidsperts have a booth at this big annual craft show and we couldn't be more excited about it! After months of planning, we're excited to debut a couple of new items! Come visit us: Friday 6 - 9 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Science Center. While I'm working the show, Hubs will be taking the minis to explore the new Geometry Playground. I foresee lots of visits to the Science Center when cold weather sticks around.
  • The Peanuts Movie. We've all been excited to see this movie for months. I'm hoping for a slightly better experience than Elizabeth's first movie this past summer. There's no doubt I will be letting you all know how the adventure goes.
Other Happenings:
  • Junk Jubilee in the Varied Industries Building at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
  • Iowa's Premier Beer, Wine, and Food Expo at HyVee Hall. Hubs and I have been to this several times and love it! We won't be able to attend this year (due to the craziness of the craft show) but it's well worth the money to attend. Oh, and be sure to have a ride home. You might need it.
  • Drake Men's Basketball game at the Knapp Center. Fun games to take the kids to.
  • Santa's Arrival and Painting Party at Merle Hay Mall. Saturday 10 a.m. - noon. They had the Christmas stuff up before Halloween even happened, so it should be of no surprise that Santa is already making his way there.
