Welcome to our weekly Thursday morning post about what's going on in the Des Moines, Iowa area. We'll share what we'll be doing, great finds, restaurants to eat at, shops to drop some cash at, and just all the great things Des Moines has to offer families.
What We're Doing:
- Play date with school friends. We've let the summer go by without a play date. The kids are so excited to have their friends over!
- Chichaqua Bottoms Greenbelt trail in Bondurant.
- Adventure Bay. After a quick hike, we'll be cooling off in the lazy river.
Other Happenings:
- The Iowa State Fair. Only the best fair in the country, maybe even the world. Just be prepared to come home with a stomach ache and a larger pant size.
- Valle Drive-In (Newton, Iowa). This weekend's double feature is Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation and Fantastic Four. We have yet to take the kids to a movie here, but we're shooting for next summer when (hopefully) all kids can stay awake and enjoy the movie.
- Family Fun Hikes at Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge. Sunday 2 - 3 p.m.
- Rita's for a cool treat. We have yet to take the kids here this summer and it looks super yummy!
