Best Toy Buy: Colorforms

Colorforms are a great quiet time activity that promote imaginative thinking and play. I played with these as a kid, a Cabbage Patch doll set to be exact (yes, I still have them and have told my children they can not play with them because they hold sentimental value). I was thrilled to be in a local learning store and spotted them on a shelf. I was even more thrilled when I got home and found them on Amazon for a much better price!

Here are a few of our favorite sets that we break out on rainy or snow days:

Colorforms Fun Pockets Hello Kitty Sticker Kit

Colorforms Fun Pockets Superwhy

Colorforms Fun Pockets Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Sticker Kit

Colorforms Fun Pockets Eric Carle Very Hungry Caterpillar Travel Kit

Colorforms 3-D Deluxe Play Sets The Pigeon?s Bus Adventure 3D Playset

Melissa and Doug also makes a few reusable sticker play sets that are decent. Our favorites are:

Melissa & Doug Make-a-Meal Sticker Pad

Melissa & Doug Reusable Sticker Pad - My Town

These are also great to take along on car trips or anywhere there's long wait times--we've brought our's to restaurants and the doctor's office for entertainment. I have let children as young as 2 play with Colorforms with no issues, but only if I'm right there supervising and can make sure they are playing with them appropriately. I do not recommend these for children under 2 as they do have some smaller stickers in each pack. Children 3 1/2+ years seem to have the best time playing with these. If you're dreading the long winter days inside with kiddos, I definitely recommend Colorforms for quiet, engaging play time.
