Best, Worst, Just So-So

Every night before the kids go to bed, I ask them what the best part of their day was, the worst part of their day (which is usually something I made them do...like clean their room or go to time out), and the part of their day that was just so-so (nothing great, nothing bad, usually something random that happened in their days). Typically there's not much time for me to share my highs and lows of the day, but after an incredibly trying, stressful, and long week with the minis, I decided it was a necessity to bring some positivity to this week.

Here is what was shared about the day at bedtime:

Max: Best part of his day-going to school and eating lunch. Worst part of his day-taking medicine. So-so part of his day-playing with Lily.

Harrison: Best part of his day-playing with the kids and eating his rice on bread. Worst part of his day-at first it was "I don't know" but then he changed it to "pooping." So-so part of his day-eating dinner.

Elizabeth: When we asked her what the best part of her day was she replied "book." When we asked her what the worst part of her day was she replied "gum." When we asked her what else she had to say, she responded "potty."

Me (Mommy): Best part of my day-successful potty training day (potty training 3 kids). Worst part of my day-trying to figure out and manage doctor's appointments for two of the three minis while Elizabeth screamed that her ears hurt (this was probably the most challenging part of my week actually....and that includes Max's eye injury!). So-so part of my day-lunch. I was only a few bites into my salad for lunch when I got a brown piece of lettuce on my fork. Ruined by entire salad and then I couldn't find anything else in the house that sounded decent.

It's so easy to get caught up in the day to day of life that I often forget to stop and think about my days. When I do stop, it always makes me realize how much I have to be thankful for. From the simplest things to the important ones. I'm amazed when I hear my mini's highs and lows, how simply they see their world and what happens in it. These few minutes of reflection gives me insight into my mini's days and puts me at ease with my days. So, I must ask:

What was the best part of your day? Your worst? What was just so-so in your day?
