It's the time of year for all things fall, including apples. Lucky for me, I have apple lovers here at daycare. They also love parties. We can turn anything into a party. Therefore, we created an Apple Party.
Our apple party began the day before making homemade crockpot applesauce (apples, 1 cup of water, sugar, and cinnamon).
During the party, we played Apple Bowling and did an apple themed craft with apple paint. But the big to do of the party was morning snack time.
A variety of apple slices with caramel bits and caramel dipping sauce, our homemade applesauce, and cold and warm apple cider was served. We then voted on what their favorite thing on their plates were. One child said the red apples, one child said the caramel, and the other child said both so she didn't have to choose between her friends (yes, that would be my daughter who brought the drama in).
We ended our party reading two of our favorite apple books: How Do Apples Grow? andCurious George Apple Harvest. Both books opened the door for a lot of questions about apples and the apple cider they were drinking! Great books to read!
