The long weekend left us plenty of time for relaxing and adventuring! Friday night and Saturday we took things pretty easy, got LOTS of laundry done, and ran errands. Saturday night, Sunday, and Monday were our times for playing. Here's a quick look at our weekend in pictures:
Max has been dying for us to set up a backyard archery range for him ever since we took him to Archery Field and Sports (read more about that here). We made time Saturday afternoon to head to Mills Fleet Farm for the decently priced hay bales and other fall items I needed to make sensory bins for fall. He was in heaven and got in more than an hour of shooting arrows. Harrison and Elizabeth each took a turn too, but they aren't quite as big of fans of the bow and arrow as Max is.
We went to a friend's baby shower. The kids were kept entertained with great craft ideas for any shower: decorate a bib, color blocks for the coming baby, and make a Play Doh baby.
We treated the kids to Rita's to cap off the night. This is the first time we've had it and it was more than filling!
Monday we went hiking despite the heavy rainfall we received the night before. It was muddy and the stream that the kids have a blast crossing was filled with water. We didn't get to cross the stream (a major disappointment for the three minis), but did get to see a very pretty and small water fall instead.
The kids threw rocks and leaves into the water instead of crossing.
The kids thought it would be a great idea to slide through the mud (catch a video here). Not surprising when one kids fell in the mud. Thankfully it was at the end of the hike!
The kids found toads and asked to keep "one or two." We did not come home with any but Harrison and Elizabeth did stop to poke at it.
Every weekend from now until Halloween is booked with fall events that we can't wait for! This was our last "free" weekend before our Parents Break to Vegas and then we begin our Tour of Pumpkin Patches in Central Iowa!
