Love Day (& Weekend)

You know how you have your birthday, but that becomes birthday month and you celebrate ALL month long? I'm not the only one who does this, but it's okay if you don't want to admit it. Much like birthday month, Valentine's Day wasn't just a day for us. It was a four day celebration where we also celebrated my birthday, my mom's birthday, a no school day, the Chiefs Superbowl win, and love.

We kicked off the weekend with a surprise Valentine's tray: chocolate fudge frosting and treats to dip it in. Super easy treat that got rave reviews.

A quick stop at Friedrich's for their cherry mocha. My usual go-to is their Aztec mocha or mocha frappe, but the cherry mocha was amazing.

The oldest joined an art club at his school. His art teacher (who also runs the club) created a fundraiser for new art supplies. Art club helped design the pet photo booth and decorate it, then he worked the fundraiser. We stopped by with Zeus for a quick picture. I love seeing my kids doing things they love.

Valentine's gifts from grandma at HER birthday party. Typical for my mom though! The lunch of choice at a joint birthday party for my mom and me was a salad bar that had a little bit of everything. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the Scratch cupcakes for dessert.

The youngest learned a new game during her friendship party at school (yes, friendship parties because we can't celebrate Valentine's Day anymore): Conversation Heart Face. You place a Conversation Heart on your face and use your face muscles to get it into your mouth. It was interesting to watch the kids give it a try!

We got chores and errands out of the way Super Bowl Sunday morning, so we could watch pre-game (and the actual game, of course). We tried out a harness with the kittens (that's going to take some work) and then made garlic parmesan cauliflower, chicken wings, and other kid-approved football food for the game. I will say, since the football season ended and our Sundays are wide open, we're slightly lost!

Monday was a day off for the minis and myself. We made French toast bites, hiked 3 1/2 miles, got Valentine's coffees, ordered heart shaped pizzas (our Valentine's tradition), and exchanged gifts. They requested to have our Valentine's celebration the day before since they were off school. It worked out perfectly!

The dog found an animal bone that I had to pry from his jaws. I also misjudged how muddy the trails would be from melting snow and ice. The youngest got her feet caught in the mud at one point and required help removing her foot.

Tuesday was daycare's Valentine's party. There was a lot of sugar consumed, Valentine's passed out, party games, and a dance party. We got to end the day by relaxing with a movie and cuddling our pets. I honestly can't think of a better way to end the day or our love weekend.
