Welcome to our weekly Thursday morning post about what's going on in the Des Moines, Iowa area. We'll share what we'll be doing, great finds, restaurants to eat at, shops to drop some cash at, and just all the great things Des Moines has to offer families.
What We're Doing:
- Beaverdale Fall Festival. Growing up in Beaverdale, this annual Fest is not one to miss. Just like last year (read about that here) the kids and I are planning on being in the parade with Elizabeth's preschool.
- Blank Park Zoo's Butterfly Festival. There's a mariachi band and butterfly tagging. I'm fairly certain my kids will be plenty entertained.
- Geisler Farms. We're making our first stop in our Tour of Pumpkin Patches.
Other Happenings:
- World Food and Music Festival. This is typically at the top of our list, but the kids weren't as adventurous as Hubs and I last year and ate only mini donuts. It's a free event and is a ton of fun. Great for kids of all ages.
- Lego Creativity Tour at Hy-Vee Hall.
- Day Out With Thomas at Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad.
